Subtables: Managing Many Detailed Items Under One Entry

    5 mins

    What Will You Learn?

    • Handling One-To-Many Relationships
    • What is a Subtable
    • How to Create a Subtable

    Key Concepts

Subtables are extremely useful for handling one-to-many relationships in your sheet. For example, a single order may contain multiple order items, a customer may have multiple payment records, a company may have multiple contacts, or a project may include multiple members.

Unlike independent fields, where one field label corresponds to one field value, a Subtable field allows one field label to correspond to multiple field values. Rows automatically expand as more data is entered. When designing a sheet, it is recommended to place the Subtable at the bottom to avoid affecting other fields below. Subtables are commonly used in scenarios, for example, sales orders, class student lists, company contact lists, and rental item record
